It is true that years ago crushers were always in pairs, one to read, one to write, I remember an incident, it was a fight in Commercial road, as we couldn't spell that road we herded everyone around to Pitt street.

Nothing could be further from the truth nowadays.

As an ex tiff and submariner I think its great that Crushers are now taught to read and write. Does this happen when you do your Crusher course at Whalley? I remember being on the Island in the 70's, dodging the Gunners and Crushers. Just glad I was a Submariner. Love you all (not)

Hi,

Great new website. Could I be a little cheecky and place an advertisment:

It has been proposed to hold a weekend reunion event for all RN Regulators who have served or are serving in Scotland. The event will be hosted in the Warrant Officers and Senior Rates Mess HMS NEPTUNE on the weekend of 14-16 May 10. Drinks and fun Friday Night. Planned activities on the Saturday afternoon, a Mess Dinner in the evening and disperse Sunday. Cost is estimated at £40. We will try and accommodate all. This will be a great opportunity to catch up with old “rat catchers” from Cochrane, Caledonia and Neptune.

If you are interested please contact myself MAA Ronnie Irvine X1 to FOST(MPV) (ronnie.irvine327@mod.uk)or Lt Sean Stewart NPM(N) (sean.stewart537@mod.uk). Apologies if I have missed anyone. Please forward this email to anyone you know who may be interested via Facebook, TXT etc (past or present).

A deposit will be required nearer the time.

Many Thanks

Ronnie

Nice to see you on the site Dinger. Yes, I definitely remember the Dewhurst Road days. All that hot bedding and mushrooms in the bathroom!
Things did improve when I got to Glazebury Rd...
then it was just sandwiches growing in Roger's wardrobe! Great days!
